What does this mean exactly?
All I can find is that 'noce' means 'walnut' in Italian and 'wedding' in French, and that's obviously not right in the context! Is it a Latin expression? Thanks for any help.
If the correct spelling was supposed to be "in nuce", it's a latin expression meaning "substantially, basically", or, and this seems the case, "on an early level"; so it implies Brunelleschi was seen by Vasari like a Michelangelo in early stages of his skills.
