My furniture is mahogany and cherry; and I am getting rid of my carpet and getting my hardwood floors finished in a medium dark stain with a satin finish. My sofa is a creamy white with a fine wedgewood blue, seafoam green and salmon strip. Two wing back chairs are the same blue with the green, ivory and salmon firestitch design and two low-back chairs are the same blue with seashell designs in the same colors. I also have a creamy white loveseat. My drapes have a floral design with the same colors (only a little bolder) and the same creamy white background. I can't paint the walls blue because that would be too much blue, and I don't want to paint the walls any creamy white shade. I tried using a pale salmon color but it turned out like Pepto Bismol pink! Help -- I have to pick out paint colors soon.

You seem to have a mixture of colours in your front room. Therefore why don;t you try and use the colour white so it emphasises the colours of your furniture and accessories? If you really can't handle white then try and go for a beige, anymore colour would be to much. Or how about painted horizontal blue and white stripes to go with your sofa?
